Born and raised in Detroit, Michigan, Montee began his musical career at Mackenzie High School in Detroit. During the decades of his musicianship, Montee has performed with a variety of local and national musical acts including B. B. King, the Drifters, the Platters, the Contours, Mary Wells, and other Motown acts.
He has opened for legendary greats such as the Spinners, Ray Charles, Bobby Bland, and others too numerous to mention. His greatest musical influence is attributed to the late King Curtis.
For the past 19 years, Montee has been an instrument for the Lord and is in the music ministry at Christian Fellowship of Love Baptist Church in Detroit, Michigan under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Samuel J. Thompson. He has also performed at the Progressive National Baptist Convention, Greater Grace Temple (Detroit), Matthew Memorial Baptist Church (Washington D.C.), Rhema Christian Center Church (Washington D.C.), and a host of other churches, as well as Christian and community events.
In September 2001, Montee released a Gospel favorites CD entitled "Sounds from Heaven." The CD comprises familiar gospel works on saxophone with the inclusion of vocals. He loves playing for God's children and looks forward to every opportunity to minister to the people via music, sharing the gift with which the Lord has blessed him. He remains available for wherever the Lord shall lead him.
